Strichen School and the Loons an Lassikies Project

Auld Deer, New Deer, Strichen and the Broch
Syne we’ll hae a straucht road,
An that will gar me hough

It’s my fifth visit to a North East school as part of the Loons an Lassikies project! The P6/7s and P3/4s at Strichen School will be creating new rhymes based on those collected over 100 years ago by the wonderful Annie Shirer (who can be seen in the photo below on the right wearing a wonderful corsage ).

A Viking Visit!

Here’s mi – playing catchy uppy with the socials again!

I had a wonderful visit to Balmedie School last week! The P4 classes have been learning all about the Vikings – so I went along to tell some stories and show the pupils some materials from Viking life.

The pupils enjoyed hearing about Thor’s wedding and how he got Mjolnir back from the ice giant Thrym and the stupid death of Sigurd the Mighty

Turriff Academy True Stories

It’s a snow day today, so no Live Literature visit to Turriff Academy for me today

Instead I’ve been reading over the fantastic work done by the two S2 classes!

One of the homework tasks they’ve been set is to go off and speak to family member or friend to find out some of their own stories.

Pupils asked questions like “What’s the naughtiest thing you did as a child?”

“What was school like when you were younger?”

“Do you have any stories of petty revenge?

“What news story do you particularly remember?”
