It’s been 11 days since Halloween and I’m just about recovered 
Well it was a wee bit busy!
9 locations, 13 events, 55 stories and about 10 packets of marshmallows toasted by the local guisers on the fire on Halloween itself!
I’m all set for Book Week Scotland next week and a few #SISFStoryRipple events the week after that!

“Pauline Cordiner, A Scottish Storyteller is returning to Fraserburgh Academy Library on Thursday 26th of October to tell spooky stories. Are you brave enough to come and listen?
As this public event may be a little scary, it is only suitable for ages 8+ and under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult

On Wednesday, I’m heading up to bonnie Buckie to tell stories to the Moray Friendship Club! Another #SISFStoryRipple event funded by the Scottish International Storytelling Festival
I’ll be telling Spooky Tales, but my fairy pals Fizzy and Fuzzy will also be going along. They’re really excited to see the new outfits designed by club members! I’ll post some photos of the next outfits some time after the Halloween Rush!
At 1am yesterday morning, the wonderful Laura from local events company Northern Frights was pulling out all the stops to make sure her latest event, Horror Con Scotland, was a big success despite Storm Babet ravaging the North East. Guests were arriving from all over and had to be taken to accommodatio – some entertainers, stall holders and of course attendees couldn’t make it. The roads were flooded, closed and in some places swept away – no trains, no buses… even taxis.
So I found myself on the stage at the Beach Ballroom a few hours later telling one of my favourite tales – Mr Fox. (Emergency Storytelling is a thing!) The atmosphere was wonderful – I had a wee audience of dedicated listeners at the front and was able to look out on the stalls, costumes, guests… the whole shebang as I told my tale.

Good afternoon folks!
Just a quick post to say that due to the ongoing problems caused by Storm Babet, Aberdeenshire Farming Museum will remain closed tomorrow, Sunday 22nd October 2023. This means that our scheduled storytelling event will be postponed.
It will likely be rescheduled for 2pm on Friday the 27th October – just before Northern Frights’ Halloween Festival at Aden!
I’ll be packing blankets and cushions for the bairns to coorie up in, so come along and join us for some spooky farming tales! 🙂

The Ninjas are absolutely thrilled to welcome Pauline into our October programme as part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival – The Big Scottish Story Ripple!
Hunker down with Pauline as she weaves her spooky, sensory stories around your ears, feel the leaves blow around you and as the weather cools and the light fades to welcome night sky at the Duthie Park.
The We Too! “ChillVille” gazebo will be situated opposite the cafe area on the grass area so you have access to getting a nice warm drink and maybe a fine piece before we all settle down to some stories. Also this spot gives access to the cafe toilets if needed too.
This event has been made possible due to the Scottish International Storytelling Festival’s Big Scottish Story Ripple initiative. The Scottish International Storytelling Festival (SISF) is organised by Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland (TRACS) and the Big Scottish story Ripple is supported by The Scottish Storytelling Forum.

At least the worst will be out of the way for my first HALLOWEEN STORYTELLING EVENTS at Aberdeenshire Farming Museum within Aden Country Park Mintlaw – part of Aberdeenshire Museums Service!
The session is funded by the Scottish International Storytelling Festival‘s community programme, The Big Scottish Story Ripple #SISFStoryRipple who have loads of community events going on in the shire – just follow the # for more events near you 🙂
As the storytelling will be held in the Farming Museum, the spooky tales will have a country/farming flavour, with maybe a couple of tales from Peterhead and Fraserburgh for the folks travelling out from there – The session will be held between 2.30 and 3.30pm and is a Free Event for all the family! On Monday 30th October join Sheena Blackhall and Pauline Cordiner for two special Halloween storytelling events!
Kaimhill school are fundraising for the P7s trip to Cromdale next year. With the price per child greatly increased and a massive 66 P7s this year, the amount they need to raise is huge – so we’re running 2 extra special storytelling events. Hotdogs and other treats will be available on the night from 7pm to raise more funds. Any additional donations on the night would be very much appreciated!
Kaimhill’s Spooky Stories – Family Storytelling
At 6pm, families are invited to join local storytellers Sheena and myself for Kaimhill’s Spooky Stories.
Tales of Scary Skeletons, Witchy Wifies, Irritating Imps and Ghastly Ghosties! Suitable for all ages
The bairns are welcome to bring a blanket to coorie up in and everyone can wear fancy dress or bring a neepie/pumpkin lantern.

The Ghosts of Garthdee – Adult Storytelling
From 7.30 to 8.30pm, Sheena and Pauline will tell ghost stories from Garthdee and nearby Deeside – some tales of hauntings, gory stories and traditional local legends!
Spirits locked in a love triangle, an exorcism on the estate, a local councillors dodgy deals exposed, a roaming monk, a haunted gymnasium, and the murderous cat that killed its master!
Tickets cost £5 per adult. Stories will be suitable for over 16s only and children will not be admitted – there is an earlier event for family groups.

Finally it’s here! It’s the Stonehaven Folk Festival !!
While I’m looking forward to the songs and the tunes and the World Paper and Comb Championship… I’m also really looking forward to … Telling Stories!
All my storytelling sessions are either FREE or COST ONLY £1 this year and 3 of them are FAMILY FRIENDLY!
Tonight – along the boardwalk, join me (and probably those nuisance fairies in the photo!) for STORIES ON THE RICKSHAW with The Stoney Rickshaw ! We’ll be leaving the Men’s shed about 7pm and making our way along the board walk, stopping somewhere there if there’s an audience for a wee tale. Then follow us to the harbour for some more stories, finishes 8pm.
Tomorrow – Saturday 8th July 10.30am – 11.30am. Join us for SINGING FOR KIDS – a workshop aimed at kids of all ages and their grown ups – Held at the Community Education Centre on Bath Street. Only £1 per person!
Following that at 11.30am – 12.30pm, there will be STORYTELLING FOR KIDS and their grown ups – a family storytelling session of monsters, heroes and probably farts.
And for the grown ups, I’ll be doing some ADULTS ONLY STORYTELLING at the 65 Club from 9 to 10pm on Saturday – Likely some spooky and bawdy tales just before Susie’s Singing Session!
