Mary Elphinstone

I was in Banff graveyard yesterday and it was so peaceful and quiet (even with the scurries sqwaking in the background) that I thought I’d take the opportunity to record a wee story.  This is one of my favourite stories to tell – Mary Elphinstone who was buried twice in Inverurie 🙂

Storytelling Workshops for Children

The second workshop follows on after the first at 11.30 on the 11th April and is targeted at 9 to 12 year olds.

“9 to 12 year olds are welcome to join Pauline Cordiner of Fizzy’s Funtastic Parties for a fun storytelling workshop at Number One, Scott Skinner Square Banchory!

We’ll start off with a game to introduce ourselves, listen to a story and then have fun exploring the world of storytelling!
We’ll play some storytelling games and will spend some time making “story sticks” – a very useful way to remember a story!

Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance. Cost £5 per child. Please contact Pauline by emailing paulinecordiner@gmail.com for more details.

Number One offers workshop space but also has a coffee where parents can enjoy teas, coffees and delicious cakes while their children are taking part in the workshop. If you wish to join your child in the workshop please let us know in advance.

Pauline has been telling stories at festivals, schools, clubs, castles, libraries and museums for over 15 years and is a member of the Scottish Storytelling Centre’s directory as well as the Scottish Book Trust Live Literature directory and Equity. Since 2016, she has been running “Fizzy’s Funtastic Parties” with her puppet pal Fizzy The Fairy (who has demanded that she be allowed to attend the workshop!) Pauline is fully insured, is a first aider and has her PVG certificate. Fizzy herself is a teacher back in fairy land where she teaches younger fairies the important lessons of “Chaos” and “How To Charm Humans””

Polar Explorer Party!

Hehe, thanks so much Gayl for sending this photo of Thomas’s Polar Explorer party – I still cant’ believe how amazing the decor was! Wolf and I had a great time telling stories, playing the games, making the snow globes (can’t believe I forgot to take a photo of them!) and doing the polar glitter tattoos!

Polar Explorer!

So on Sunday I did a Polar Explorer for Thomas’s birthday.  He’s a big fan of all things polar – Scott of the Antarctic, penguins, adventures to the North Pole, Polar Bears etc!  So I put together some games ( such “Captain Scott’s Delicious Dinner”  aka The Chocolate Game with polar hat, scarf and big padded gloves!; Amundsen’s Amazing Icebergs aka musical islands), told the tale of Sedna the Sea Goddess and then we got started on our craft – jam jar snowglobes with little penguins inside!  There were also lots of suitable glitter tattoos.  I also wanted to create a costume and character for the party though and here he is – a rather ruddy faced, windswept chap with a bit of an obsession with penguins!

A Portrait!

One of my favourite things about visiting schools to tell stories is when you get this kind of feedback. It’s the best kind of compliment! This young artist from Arduthie Primary school has got me down to a tee! Photo of the outfit I wore for comparison 😀
Thanks Miss Phillip for sharing the photo! xxx
